Hannah's smile...

Mark it on your calendars folks Saturday, May 19 at 647pm, Greg and I got our first smile from Hannah in almost 2 weeks!  It was so reassuring to see Hannah's personality coming back.  I can't even put it into words how wonderful it was to see her beautiful smile again.  Along with smiling she sat up on her own and she played with some of her toys.  It is so great to see her make this type of progress.  It gives us even more hope that she is indeed a true fighter and WILL make a full recovery.

Her breathing issues are still about the same.  She is still on oxygen and breathing at a fairly rapid pace, but with her new liver and swelling, I think the ICU team has realized it will be like this until things shrink down.  They are still keeping a very close eye on it to be safe.  She still hasn't taken a bottle but I do believe that will come with time as well.  Overall, we feel she is improving just on Hannah's time, which is the best time.  We want her to do it on her time because that is the only way she will make a full recovery.

We want to thank everyone who made it to the garage sale today.  I heard it was a success and we are speechless how generous people were.  We feel so unbelievably humbled and thankful to have such a huge support group! Also a HUGE thank you to Greg's family for putting together this sale.  We know how much time and effort goes into these and we are so lucky to be apart of such a generous and loving family.

I sent Greg this picture tonight when she fell asleep and titled it "Our lil angel fast asleep"  Does anyone notice what Greg did as soon as he looked at the picture??

Yep, that's right,  a halo that her NG tube makes above her head.  If that is not a sign that God is keeping a close eye on her than I honestly don't know what is :)  She is not only an angel but a true inspiration to so many including me.  She has taught us even more these past two weeks then she did before, and I didn't think that could be possible.  Personally to name only a few, she has taught me faith, hope, patience, and strength.  All of these I had but not to the extent where I could say they describe me as a person.  Now I can truly say that is who I am and have become because of my daughter.

Goodnight everyone......

  1. oh, I have chills. Casey, you've also become a writer! So many people mentioned today at the sale how they follow your blog and that you've inspired them. Hannah's picture alone melted many hearts today and brought the topic of organ donation to the forefront. You have all taught us so much too. Sweet dreams Hannah!
