It was 6 months ago today that the most beautiful and special little girl came into our lives, but unfortunately it was also 4 months ago today we found out the devastating news of her condition!! Like in every child's life 6 months is a huge milestone, but especially for Hannah. Right after Hannah's surgery, when we saw the GI doc for the first time, things didn't look promising. The doc was talking transplant sooner than later. Then at the next appointment Hannah's labs started moving in the right direction and things were turning around. I will never forget that next appointment when the doctor told me she was so happy because she thought for sure Hannah was going to be transplanted by 6 months old! Here we are, 6 months old, and still heading in the right direction. We look at this as a great accomplishment for her right now. She is so unbelievably strong, and she proves that to us every day!
To prove how strong of a little girl she is, we had a great 6 month check up with the pediatrician. Developmentally she is doing wonderful so far and no big delays. She weighed 13lbs 7oz and is 25 inches long. She has gone up on the growth scale from 2% to 8%. Go Hannah!! It is amazing how much she eats for such a small little girl so we are glad we are actually seeing results:) So now the key is to try to keep her healthy through the rest of this cold and flu season. She did get 4 vaccines today, one including the flu shot which she is not happy about at all. Unfortunately, this month hasn't been the best for us when it comes to staying healthy! Jacob is fighting some kind of virus, and we are praying that Hannah doesn't get it! He has been a very good big brother, and listening to us by not touching her. Every once in a while though he gets upset and cries saying, "I just want to play with Hannah!" It is actually pretty sweet. I think for the rest of this season we will keep her in a bubble!
(I will post a picture when she is not cranky from her shots!!)
yay baby hannah!
