I know it has been awhile since my last blog post and I apologize. We are just trying to get settled into our new norm. Hannah has been doing great. She has gotten her first set of labs drawn and her numbers are still looking good. We did need to up one of her immunosuppressant drugs, but it is to be expected to take awhile before she fully stabilizes on her blood levels. She still refuses her bottles but is eating table food like it is going out of style! She basically will eat anything I put in front of her, and loves every minute of it. We wish Jacob would eat as good as she has been eating! We are going to try some soy milk to see if she will drink that so we don't have to continue the NG feeds. It is a pain to try to fit all the feeds in during the day on top of everything she wants to eat but if this is the biggest problem we have right now I will definitely take it!!
Tomorrow we have her first clinic appointment with the doctors since we left the hospital. I am eager to here what they have to say about her recovery process this far. We will continue to go see them once a week for at least this first month home, along with her bi-weekly lab work. We also will go see the pediatrician today so she has a good feel for what Hannah looks and acts like when she is feeling good. I am very curious to see if she has gained any weight. When we left the hospital she still weighted a little over 13.5 pounds but 14 pounds with a bow in her hair and a diaper on! :) We will keep you posted on the appointments.
Today marks the one month anniversary of Hannah's liver transplant! It has seemed like the longest month of our lives, but we are truly amazed how Hannah has bounced back from everything she has been through! The morning of her transplant when they took our little girl away from us, we were terrified because we had no clue what the next hours, days, weeks, and years would hold for Hannah and the rest of us. That moment will forever be engraved in my heart and mind. Looking at her today, I cry tears of joy and relief that things have been going her way, and I have a beautiful and healthy little girl sitting in front of me. I know we will most likely have some bumps ahead of us, but we have learned to live in the moment. At this moment, our little girl is the happiest and healthiest I have seen her since she has been born. If I could press pause I would keep her like this forever! Each day she wakes up is another day we feel so blessed. She is truly a miracle, a blessing, and a very special little girl. Our family would not be complete without her in it. God has watched and held her in his arms every step of the way, and I can only pray to him he will continue to keep a close eye on her throughout her lifetime
To Hannah (when you read this someday):
